For the City of London’s oldest ward club, we were tasked with creating a brand that honours centuries of history while making it relevant for today’s members.
During a research visit to the London Archives, we uncovered the oldest known rendering of the Club’s 17th‑century arms - a striking design featuring crested doves holding olive branches, reminiscent, unsurprisingly, of the symbolism of the Worshipful Company of Tallow Chandlers. This discovery became a touchstone for the redesign.

The previous logo, in use for over fifty years, was characterful but had slowly drifted away from the true club arms. Working with illustrator Harry Murr, we restored the arms for the modern age, adding detail, colour, and symbolic meaning, as the original arms had been intended.

Alongside the new crest, we developed a refreshed visual identity and digital presence that reflect both the heritage and living relevance of the club. This included a redesigned website, member collateral, and communications that bring the Club’s story to life.
The result is a brand that bridges past and present – connecting members to centuries of tradition while presenting the Candewick Ward Club as an enduring and living part of the City of London.
